Shoreline Conversations

For those considering foster care or adoption

You’re thinking about stepping into the water and you deserve clarity before you do.

Foster care and adoption are life-changing paths, and not just in the ways people post about. Shoreline Conversations are honest, grounded support sessions for individuals or couples who are exploring this journey and want to understand the emotional realities before making a decision.

This is a space to ask the questions you can’t Google.

To talk about fears without judgment.

To explore readiness, expectations, and what this path truly asks of your heart and home.

There is no pressure here only clarity and truth, offered with compassion.

For those who want to step forward with eyes open and hearts prepared.

Session Focus May Include:

• Emotional readiness

• Relationship dynamics & support systems

• Understanding trauma-informed parenting

• Exploring motivations and expectations

• “Is this path right for us?” reflection

Lighthouse Support Sessions

For current foster and adoptive parents

You are already in the waves you don’t have to stay afloat alone.

Lighthouse Support Sessions are steady, judgment-free spaces for foster and adoptive parents navigating the real emotional weight of this role. This is not parenting advice or behavior training, it’s support for you, the human carrying so much.

Here, you can exhale.

Say the things you feel guilty thinking.

Talk about the emotional toll, the constant responsibility, and the quiet exhaustion that comes with loving children from hard places. You don’t have to be the strong one in this room.

For parents who need a safe place to land, reset, and keep going.

Session Focus May Include:

• Emotional overwhelm and burnout

• Compassion fatigue and secondary stress

• Processing your own feelings in a safe, confidential space

• Reconnecting with your capacity and resilience

• Staying grounded while navigating a demanding season of life

How Sessions Work

I offer one-on-one and couples sessions for families who want honest, grounded support as they consider foster care or adoption, prepare for next steps, or process the realities of this journey.

There is no package requirement and no long-term commitment. You are welcome to schedule a single session or multiple sessions depending on your needs.

Readiness vs Calling

Many people feel called to foster or adopt. A sense of calling can be meaningful, but it is not the same as readiness.

This journey asks for more than good intentions. It asks for emotional endurance, flexibility, support, and the ability to stay when things are hard.

Taking time to pause and look honestly at your life right now is not hesitation, it is preparation. And preparation is one of the greatest ways to protect both your family and a child who may enter it.

Why Slowing Down Matters

Families often spend months in training, preparing their homes, purchasing supplies, and emotionally committing only to realize later they were not fully ready.

Taking time to pause and talk through readiness now can help prevent:

• rushed decisions

• unnecessary expenses

• emotional strain

• stepping into a situation you later feel unprepared to sustain

This is not about discouraging families. It is about helping you make a decision you can stand on, for your sake and for a child’s.

Session Flow

While sessions are booked hourly, most families find that two hours allows enough time to slow down, ask meaningful questions, and think clearly about a decision this significant. A single hour can be helpful, but it often feels rushed.

You are welcome to choose the amount of time that feels right for you.
